Traumatic experiences were meant to break us, yet despite the odds, we survived. Sophia Cannon is all too familiar with traumas of various degrees that were meant to break her. Not only did she survive, like many others, but she spent over 20 years, learning and equipping herself to help restore, repurpose, and renew the lives of others, as a professional counselor, an executive mindset coach, a clinical rehabilitation counselor, a certified clinical trauma professional, and a substance abuse instructor. Sophia became a published author at the age of 15, less than two years after migrating from the Caribbean Island of Trinidad to the United States. She is also a 2x best-selling co-author and her memoir of her experience escaping from the 92nd floor of 2 World Trade Center on September 11th, 2001, is almost completed.
Sophia Cannon is the founder and clinical director of 92 Reasons, a counseling practice and institution for offender education. Sophia took a nontraditional educational route. She completed her bachelor’s in architecture, then joined a pre-med program focusing on specific courses to understand how the brain works before learning how the mind works. She became one of 10 students accepted into the Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling master’s program at U.T. Southwestern Medical Center where she was taught how to rehabilitate all aspects of individuals with varying degrees of physical and mental disabilities. Upon graduating she gained experience working at the University of North Texas Health Science Center, where she taught classes for their medical school and conducted neuropsychological assessments in their Alzheimer’s research clinic. Sophia received training and experience in forensic assessments during her time working with the city of Dallas’ Community Service and Corrections Department.
Sophia’s passion for counseling and coaching revolves around desire to help others meet their unapologetic self and grow to love and enjoy the life they are gifted.
